Where has Halloween gone?

We were so excited for Halloween this year.  We live in a very close knit community of about 300 homes, and many of us know each other and our kids.  We are all on an email list, so we communicate as a community…not always in the best way as you can pretty much imagine, but that is for a different conversation…

This year I wanted to do something special for Halloween, so I made cute treat bags for each kid with some of the bags having a dog cookie.  It gave me something to do with the kids instead of just handing out candy.  I actually talked to them, asked them if they had a pet or a dog, and then either gave them a bag with dog cookies or not.  It was fun actually.  The kids loved it and would tell me about their pets.  Made Halloween trick o’ treating less impersonal.  Oh and did I fail to mention that it was like 41 degrees out, snowing earlier in the day and the wind was blowing really strong!  I had tons of bags and candy, and about 25 kids came to my door.  Ugh…
